The New Currency of Film Finance: Crowdfunding and Information

There are many established ways to finance a film, ranging from equity, pre-sales, to gap financing and more. But there’s no hotter form of financing currently than crowdfunding. In just a few years after its introduction, crowdfunding has become a popular form of film financing that fledgling and experienced filmmakers alike have used to fund their projects. However, in the rush to crowdsource funding, many filmmakers are launching ill-conceived campaigns without setting realistic goals and doing the work necessary to ensure success.

Film/video and music projects comprise almost 50% of the campaigns on Kickstarter alone and 43% of them are unsuccessful. These sobering metrics underscore how important it is to do all the work necessary before and after you launch your campaign to ensure its success.

Attend this informative event to learn about the different kinds of film financing available as well as crowdfunding best practices from our expert panel. They will also discuss how to properly leverage social media to share information and awareness about your crowdfunding campaign to give it the best chance to succeed.
