HOLLYSHORTS PRESENTS 1-WEEK THEATRICAL RUN OF ITS AWARD WINNING SHORT FILMS DESCRY AND MADARAN
HollyShorts presents a 1-week Los Angeles Theatrical run of two of the festival's award-winning short films Descry and Madaran.
The 1-week theatrical run will take place starting this Friday September 23 and run until Friday September 30 at Laemmle's NoHo 7 theater (5240 Lankershim Blvd, North Hollywood, CA 91601).
The two films will air back-to-back each day throughout the run at 12:50pm and tickets are $9 and currently available for purchase today.
Dave Yohe's Descry is Inspired by the 1964 Obie Award winning play 'Dutchman', written by Amiri Baraka (born LeRoi Jones) as a political allegory describing black, white relations, Descry is set in present-day America and is expanded to include our country's more diverse ethnic makeup. Descry stars Quincy Ndekwe, Wilson Ramirez, Katie Chan, Aminat Odunbaku and Jenna Bleecker. The screen play was written by Jenna Bleecker and Dave Yohe. Executive Producers are Jenna Bleecker, Dave Yohe, Thomas Spitler, Produced by Jason Goldberg. Associate Producers are Kurt Messersmith, Christopher Stein, and Cherylann Cossette Hutto
Rayka Zehtabchi's Madaran is a film based on a true story about an Iranian mother who must decide whether to end or spare the life of her only son's killer at his execution. Written by Zehtabchi, Madaran is Produced by Mehrdad Sarlak, Avery Regen, Nicholas De Bellis, Rayka Zehtabchi, and Sam Davis.
The 1-week theatrical run of select winners is a new annual initiative from the HollyShorts Film Festival instigated this year, official selections to the festival who are winners and meet the guidelines of the program are all potential candidates. The 2017 HollyShorts Film Festival takes place August 10-19, 2017. The festival begins taking Submissions 9/22.
